Director of the Information Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Ogulmyahri Geldiyeva on the pages of the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" gave recommendations on how to increase and strengthen immunity in the winter months in a short time.

- Immunity is non-specific and specific. We inherit specific immunity, through the genes of our parents, and we develop non-specific immunity ourselves, because viruses constantly mutate, and the body is forced to rebuild in order to create protection against such neoplasms.

In order for this restructuring to end with the creation of reliable protection, immunity requires a certain “building” material. In order to increase immunity, there are many simple and affordable means. Hardening is considered the best, but here it is important to remember the gradual process. Actions such as spontaneous dousing with cold water can lead not to health, but to a serious cold, so you need to start small: rubbing, alternating warm and cold water.

Fresh air is very important for immunity, and the more actively you move, the better. The easiest way is to walk one or two stops on your way to work or home. It is better to go quickly, giving the body a certain load. The greatest effect, of course, will be given by active sports, fitness, and dancing.

Proper nutrition is another way to strengthen the immune system, food should be natural, rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and these are vegetables and fruits, honey. Consumption of meat, especially in the cold season, is useful for the synthesis of immunoglobulins, but sugar and fried foods, on the contrary, require a lot of useful substances for processing, and thus weaken the immune system.

Healthy fermented milk products, primarily live yoghurts and kefirs, will bring a big plus to the increase and strengthening of immunity. They provide the gastrointestinal tract with "good" bacteria. Phytoncides of onion and garlic will help fight pathogenic viruses. Strengthen the immune system and flavonoids, which are abundant in onions, tomatoes, walnuts, apples, bananas, figs.

Tinctures, syrups and teas based on medicinal plants, which are so rich in the Turkmen land, will help to strengthen and increase immunity. Winter is the time of seasonal colds, remember, before going outside, lubricate the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity with oxolin ointment and put on a medical mask. The mask should be carefully fastened, tightly cover the mouth, nose and chin, leaving no gaps. Be sure to dress for the weather, don't forget a scarf and hat.

At work and at home, periodically ventilate the premises, providing fresh air. Carry out wet cleaning in the rooms using special detergents, fumigate the rooms with yuzarlik.

In public places, it is necessary to observe the rules of public hygiene: when talking with another person, do not remove the mask, keep a safe distance of at least two meters. Wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and running water before eating and after eating, after going to the toilet, returning from the street. Children should also know these rules.
