China and Turkmenistan celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations

Today is the 30th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and People’s Republic of China. For that reason, the Chairman (PRC) Xi Jinping and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov exchanged congratulatory messages, announce the Xinhua News Agency.

China is the first country, who established diplomatic relations with confidence Turkmenistan. The relations between countries were declared as strategic partnership in September 2013, and in May 2014 China and Turkmenistan concluded an Agreement about friendship and cooperation.

China is one of the great trade partners of Turkmenistan. The main export from Turkmenistan to China is natural gas, the volume of which is about 34 billion cubic meters in 2021.

The exports of gas are curried out throughout three branches of the “Turkmenistan-China” gas pipeline with a total length of 1 833 kilometers each.

Also, China is a significant investor in the economy of Turkmenistan. About 30 enterprises of the People's Republic of China conduct economic activities in the country. A significant portion of investment is in the oil and gas sector and mining.

Since 2002, the Chinese National Oil and Gas Corporation has been operating in Turkmenistan, which is the operator of gas production for the “Bagtyyarlyk” project. The company is also engaged in industrial development of the “Galkynysh” field (financing of the development of the field, in particular, the construction of gas pipelines, gas cleaning plants, the necessary infrastructure is carried out by the State Bank of China).

Also, companies from the People's Republic of China are actively investing in the transport sector of the economy. 90% of the transport capacity of railways is provided by locomotives made in China.

One of the directions of investment of China are healthcare, building, textile industry and telecommunication.
