Serdar Azmun took 2nd place in voting for the best Asian footballer in 2021

The ESPN Asia TV channel on its official website informed about the results of voting for the best Asian footballer at the end of 2021.

The first place with wide margin took Tottenham Hotspur striker son Heung Min, getting 242 points. The Korean has won this nomination for the fifth year in a row.

The second was the Iranian “Zenit” forward Serdar Azmun, who is of Turkmen origin. He lagged behind the Korean by 131 points. Mehdi Taremi (90 points) playing in the attack of the “Porto” club, closed the top-3.

In this season Azmun has scored 10 goals and 4 assists in 21 matches in all tournaments. Azmun’s contract with Russian club finishing at the end of the season. Transfermarkt values the player’s market at € 25 million. The striker has been playing for “Zenit” since January 2019.

The leading sports publications of the Asian continent, including those from Turkmenistan, took part in the voting. However, this award has nothing to do with the Asia Football Player of the Year award, which is awarded by the AFC.
