For a year and a half, a student from Turkmenistan, Selbi Meredova, has been working in an infectious diseases hospital in Karelia and helping doctors fight COVID-19.

Selbi is currently in her fifth year at a medical university. In between shifts and studies, she told the "Turkmenportal" correspondent about her decision to go to work in the "red" zone.

Selbi belongs to the medical dynasty. Her father, mother, grandmother and grandfather are also doctors, and therefore the question of choosing a life track was not at all.

The girl calls the pandemic a war, and she simply could not remain aloof when it comes to saving lives.

- When it all started, I could not stand aside. I have to be at the forefront of the fight against the virus, I thought”, says Selbi.

During their watch, doctors monitor the condition of at least hundreds of patients.

The happiest moment, Selby says, is to see the name of a difficult patient on the discharge list and his grateful eyes. At this point, she forgets about fatigue, bruises from protective clothing and other difficulties.

When meeting with sick people, the young specialist also works as a psychologist. He maintains a relationship with many patients even after discharge.

The young girl does not regret her decision at all - she has gained tremendous practical experience in working with patients. Selbi admitted that, despite the great difficulties, working in the "red zone" is even more inspiring.
