Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan held talks with Iranian counterpart in Tehran

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who arrived in Tehran today at the head of the Turkmen delegation, met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan.

According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the talks focused on the development of cooperation and consultations between the two countries in the political and diplomatic sphere.

Rashid Meredov stressed the determination of Turkmenistan to develop relations with Iran.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan, as neighbors and brothers, are on the way to develop relations, and the two countries cooperate in various fields. We decided to hold negotiations in an organized manner, and these negotiations will continue in Ashgabat and Tehran,” Rashid Meredov said at a joint press conference, IRNA reports.

Tomorrow the delegation of Turkmenistan will take part in the work of the 16th Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan.

Rashid Meredov will also take part in tomorrow's meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, which will be held at the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

According to the report, in addition to the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, the meeting will be attended by the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan. The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Russia and China will join them via videoconference.
