From 22 to 24 October, the World Cup in belt wrestling Koresh was held in Moscow, in which more than 100 athletes from more than 20 countries took part. Earlier, the qualifying stages of the competition were held in Kazan and Moscow, and the finals were held on October 22 at the Ivan Yarygin Wrestling Palace.

At the competition, 10 sets of awards were played in weight categories from 60 kg to over 130 kg, most of which were won by the wrestlers of the Russian national team.

The championship was attended by a Turkmen student of the Yelabuga Institute of the Kazan Federal University Emirkhan Esenov, who is a 5th year student of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy in the direction of training "physical culture and life safety".

Emirkhan Esenov won the second place in the 70 kg weight category. On the way to the podium, Esenov knocked out three representatives of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from the fight. In the final match, Esenov lost to Russian Dmitry Levashov, winning silver.

It should be noted that this is not the first sports victory of an athlete from Turkmenistan, who actively participates in various tournaments, representing the university and the country. So, in October 2020, Emirkhan Esenov took third place at the Koresh World Belt Wrestling Championship and third at the XVIII World Belt Wrestling Championship. Esenov also distinguished himself at the Competition of students and postgraduates of the Kazan Federal University, having received the third place in the kettlebell lifting competition.

In March 2021, Esenov won silver at the “Alysh” international belt wrestling tournament.
