Petersburg shipbuilders will build the latest ships from composite materials for Turkmenistan. This was announced by the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov in his weekly radio address.

The governor discussed cooperation in the field of shipbuilding during an official visit to Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence.

“Petersburg shipbuilders will supply ships made of composite materials to Turkmenistan. We have agreed to continue cooperation between the Turkmen side and the United Shipbuilding Corporation,” the Saint Petersburg TV channel reports Alexander Beglov.

There are over 40 factories in St. Petersburg where ships of various categories are built. 12 of these enterprises are part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. In terms of a set of structural properties, polymer composite materials (PCM) surpass traditional steels, aluminum and titanium alloys. They are distinguished by increased specific strength and stiffness, high resistance to fatigue loads, a wide range of thermal and electro physical characteristics, and versatility of use.

Recall that during his official visit to Turkmenistan, Alexander Beglov met with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. The Governor also held a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin, visited the A.S. Pushkin TRSS in Ashgabat, to whom he handed over a certificate for educational literature. During the visit, the St. Petersburg delegation through the Russian Embassy handed over letters of thanks from the Governor of St. Petersburg and gifts to the blockade and veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Turkmenistan.
