Mass picking of cotton has begun in Turkmenistan. With the blessing of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, an important agricultural campaign was launched today in Ahal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats.
The total area of the fields allotted for cotton this year is 620 thousand ha. In the spring they are planted with medium fiber cotton varieties.
In the cultivation of this crop, private producers of agricultural products are also involved, having received plots from a special agricultural land fund.
In the whole country it is planned to collect 1 million 250 thousand tons of "white gold", including 280 thousand tons in Akhal velayat, 10 thousand tons in Balkan velayat, 275 thousand tons in Dashoguz velayat, 320 thousand tons in Lebap velayat, Mary velayat - 365 thousand tons.
The picking season will involve 1,000 John Deere 9970 cotton harvesters, 2,227 trucks for transporting cotton, 2,301 tractors and 3,620 tractor trailers.
In the field, for the smooth operation of the cotton harvesting conveyor, technical and service maintenance of the equipment in use is organized.
To carry out the processing of cotton before machine harvesting, a defoliant was purchased in the required volume. As always, not only specialized tractors, but also small aircraft will be used here.
122 procurement points and 39 ginneries have been prepared to receive the new harvest of "white gold".
Cotton growing is an important branch of the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan, providing a significant contribution to the implementation of State programs for the production of import-substituting products and for increasing the export potential of the national economy.
With the modern organization of production based on innovative technologies, natural cotton fiber is the most valuable raw material for the domestic textile industry, whose products are in high demand on world markets.
