The capital of Turkmenistan hosts the Week of Turkmen Films and the Festival of Short Films “Ashgabat Spring”, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of our country's independence and the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat. The organizers of the event are the “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguz Han and the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.
The opening ceremony took place on May 10 at the Ashgabat cinema. On this day, a two-part feature film Durmuş kyssalary (“Stories from Life”) by Arslan Eyeberdiev was screened.
As the Ministry of Culture told “Turkmenportal”, every day until May 16 inclusively, “Ashgabat”, “Turkmenistan” and “Vatan” cinemas will host two screenings at the same time: at 15.00 and 17.00.

- Gumly gelniň aýdymy (“The song of gelin from the sands”).
Admission to film screenings is free.
On the last day of the film week, namely May 16, all competitive short films of the “Ashgabat Spring” festival will be shown. The films presented will be judged both by an expert jury and by an audience vote.
On May 23, the award ceremony will take place in the following nominations:
- Jury selection;
- Best Director;
- Best Screenplay;
- Best Cinematography;
- Best Actor;
- Best Actress;
- People's Choice Award.
