The Gorkut ata International Film Festival opened with a large-scale literary and musical composition, Türkmen dünýäsi, on the stage of the Mukams Palace in Ashgabat. The production was presented by artists of the Main Academic Drama Theater of Turkmenistan named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashy the Great together with the country’s leading dance groups, Meňli and Aşgabat, TDH reports.
The festival guests had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Turkmen cinematography thanks to a special exhibition in the lobby of the palace. A special atmosphere of national color was created by the performances of bagshy-sazandars, who performed traditional Turkmen melodies and songs.
The festive progra’ was complemented by a screening of the video clip, Gorkut ata, from the Oguzhan Türkmenfilm Association.
Then, short videos were shown, which introduced guests to feature and documentary films participating in the Gorkut ata film festival. Participants were also shown a video about films previously shot by the Oguzhan Türkmenfilm Association. The first day of the film forum ended with fiery performances by cultural and artistic figures of the country.
Let us recall that this event is being held in Ashgabat in connection with the announcement of the ancient Turkmen city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.
