Chavushoglu: “Turkey is ready to do everything for Turkmen gas supplies to Europe”

Turkey is ready to do everything for the supply of Turkmen gas to Europe. Mevlut Chavushoglu, the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, told reporters on the sidelines of talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who is on a working visit to Ankara, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are ready to do whatever it takes for us to get gas from Turkmenistan to Turkey and then to Europe,” Chavushoglu said.

The possibility of Turkmen energy exports to Europe was discussed in connection with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on the joint exploration, development of hydrocarbon field “Dostluk” on the Caspian Sea on January 21, 2021 in Ashgabat.

As previously reported, the Turkish Foreign Ministry welcomed the signing of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani Memorandum on “Dostluk”. Today, the Turkish Foreign Minister reiterated that Ankara is “happy” with the signing of this document by Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

It will be recalled that Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov will pay a working visit to Ankara on February 22-24 on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
