In January, China received over 3.8 billion cubic meters of gas from Central Asia

More than 3.87 billion cubic meters of natural gas was delivered to China via the Central Asia-China gas pipeline in January 2021, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing Chinese oil company PipeChina West Pipeline.

According to the company, last month the maximum daily gas supply to the gas pipeline was 153 million cubic meters.

The China-Central Asia gas pipeline begins at the border of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, passes through the territory of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and crosses the Chinese-Kazakh border through Khorgos / Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region –“. This is the first cross-border gas pipeline in China.

The total length of this pipeline is 1,833 kilometers. The planned gas supply capacity is 60 billion cubic meters per year. Since its commissioning in December 2009, it has been operating stably and safely for over 11 years.

According to the company, imports of natural gas through this pipeline account for more than 15 percent of all gas consumed in the country per year. The pipeline covers 500 million people in 27 provinces of China, cities of central government and autonomous regions, as well as in Hong Kong SAR.
