Turkmenistan and the Sultanate of Oman held inter-ministerial consultations

Today, in the format of a video conference, inter-ministerial consultations were held between Turkmenistan and the Sultanate of Oman, the Foreign Ministry of our country reports.

The Turkmen side was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, the Omani side - by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamud Al-Busaidi.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on cooperation in the field of transport. Both countries have a unique geographic location and are important links in the creation of international transport and transit corridors in the North-South and East-West directions, the diplomats noted. In this context, one of the vivid examples of partnership is the Agreement on the Creation of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman International Transport and Transit Corridor. The parties discussed the relevance of this partnership for strengthening cooperation between countries and regional economic integration.

The importance of developing the legal framework for bilateral cooperation was also noted.

The parties expressed interest in creating a joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which will contribute to the promotion of trade relations between the two countries, including in the oil and gas, chemical and textile industries, agriculture and others.

They also noted the need to develop educational and cultural contacts, taking into account the current conditions, considered the possibilities of expanding cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of healthcare and medicine, the source notes.
