Honorary title of “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” established in Turkmenistan

On January 16, 2021, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov signed the Law “On the Establishment of the Honorary title of Turkmenistan “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” (“Defender of the Motherland”). This Law was published in today's issue of the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan” and comes into force from the date of its official publication.

In accordance with the Law, the Regulations on the title and description of the badge are approved.

The Regulations on the honorary title of Turkmenistan “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” states the following:

1. Turkmenistan's Honorary title “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” is a state award of Turkmenistan.
2. The honorary title of Turkmenistan “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” is awarded to the members of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan, who have served faultlessly in a number of military and law enforcement bodies for at least fifteen years, have a vested interests, have a vested interest in property, and have a high degree of ownership and the rule of law in an independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan.
3. Turkmenistan's Honorary Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan is conferred the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.
4. The honorary title of Turkmenistan "Homeland Defender of Turkmenistan" is made on the recommendation of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Secretary of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan. The presentations are made in the name of the President of Turkmenistan.
5. The persons awarded the honorary title of Turkmenistan “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” are presented with the certificate and the badge of the honorary title “Defender of the Motherland of Turkmenistan” by the
6. President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.

The emblem of Turkmenistan's honorary title “Motherland Defender of Turkmenistan” has the shape of a vertical oval octagon, made of copper and zinc alloy, the front is covered with an oxidized copper alloy.

The height of the breastplate is 48 mm, the width is 30 mm, the front is covered with gilded enamel.

The base of the chest sign is depicted in the form of gilded rays of diverging rays. In the center of the front of the breastplate there is an image of the State Emblem of Turkmenistan, surrounded by an outer circle, at the top of which is a gold inscription “TURKMENISTAN”, and at the bottom – “WATAN GORAGCHYSY” (DEFENDER OF THE COUNTRY). The space between the image of the State Emblem of Turkmenistan and the outer circle is covered with green enamel. Below it olive branches are gilded, diverging on both sides.

The edges of the breastplate are gold-plated.

The chest sign is made in a convex shape.

On the opposite side of the chest there is a clamp for fastening it to the uniform.
