Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Malaysia held video talks

Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Malaysia Rashid Meredov and Shri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein discussed a wide range of issues of multilateral and bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, energy and humanitarian fields during an online meeting today.

According to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the constructive conversation, the foreign Ministers confirmed their mutual intention to further increase contacts within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN.

In order to implement the agreements reached during a telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhiddin Yassin on October 27, the diplomats expressed the need to intensify cooperation in the oil and gas sector, where there is a huge potential for joint implementation. In this regard, the positive experience of cooperation with Malaysian companies specializing in oil, gas and energy was noted.

During the meeting they discussed the possibility of building partnerships in the field of information and communication technologies and digitalization of the economy, and also noted the humanitarian component of the Turkmen-Malaysian relations, where the parties have extensive experience and a solid potential for deepening effective cooperation in education, science and culture, and health.

The foreign Ministers expressed mutual interest in intensifying contacts between representatives of state and private structures of the two countries to conduct joint events that contribute to strengthening and expanding bilateral contacts between Turkmenistan and Malaysia in all areas of interest.
