This year, about 60 thousand hectares of land released from winter wheat sown with intermediate crops in the Lebap velayat. Thus, more than 49 thousand tons of rice harvested from 10 thousand hectares of agricultural land, the newspaper "Turkmenistan" reports.

Farmers are increasing the range of intermediate crops from year to year, because of increasing the area of millet, sesame and peanut fields. This year, about 200 tons of millet and about 50 tons of peanuts produced in the Kerki etrap alone.

Local entrepreneurs also joined the efforts of farmers. In remote fields, they conducted experiments with several intermediate crops. As a result, for the first time this year, crops such as sunflower, sesame, white durra (dzhugara) and rice harvested on the Golestan plateau of the Kerki etrap. Farmers in the region are not limited to this; they have already begun to take care of the next year's harvest.

Intermediate crops serve not only to obtain additional products and as a means of reducing the contamination of crops, but also have a positive effect on soil fertility and other properties. Therefore, in the climatic conditions of our country, intermediate crops are especially important.
