FC Altyn Asyr won the Turkmenistan Super Cup for a sixth time following a penalty shoot-out defeat of Turkmenistan Higher League rivals FC Ahal in Ashgabat Stadium.
The match ended in the main time of the game in a draw — 1: 1. In the 68th minute, the score was opened by the midfielder of FC Ahal Gurban Annayev, and in the 73rd thanks to the efforts of the defender Mekan Saparov, the champion of Turkmenistan equalized the result.
In the additional 30 minutes of the match, the score did not change. In the penalty shootout, the players of FC Altyn Asyr were luckier — 5: 4. The only missed 11-meter kick was on the account of FC Ahal defender Serdar Annaorazov.
Thus, FC Altyn Asyr became the six-time winner of the Turkmenistan Super Cup. Honored trainer of the country Yazguly Hojageldiyev, who previously won this trophy three times with the team of the International Turkmen-Turkish University (FC HTTU) and now for the sixth year in a row with FC Altyn Asyr, led the team of the Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Communications of Turkmenistan to this success.
The awards were presented to the winners by the Secretary General of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan Arslan Aynazarov.
Last year, in the Turkmenistan Super Cup match, FC Altyn Asyr defeated FC Kopetdag with a score of 2: 0.
Previously, signalmen's won this honorary trophy in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The Turkmenistan Super Cup established by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan and has been played since 2005.
