Turkmenistan will set up deliveries of textiles, cotton fiber and polypropylene to the Astrakhan region

The Astrakhan region of Russia is interested in Turkmen textiles, cotton fiber and polypropylene. In turn, the Astrakhan region is ready to establish large-scale deliveries of agricultural and fishing products to Turkmenistan. This was stated by the Governor of the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation Igor Babushkin during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Batyr Niyazliev, the State news Agency of our country reports.

According to I. Babushkin, he expects to discuss the agenda of economic cooperation during his visit to Turkmenistan, when such an opportunity presents itself.

During the meeting, a high assessment was given to the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation. As noted, since the beginning of this year, the mutual trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation has amounted to 6.9 million US dollars.

The parties discussed the possibility of building a series of vessels for Turkmenistan at Astrakhan shipyards, establishing a direct ferry service between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region, as well as cargo and cruise services along the Volga river on the route Moscow – Astrakhan – ports of the Caspian States.

During the talks, the sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in the humanitarian field, one of the symbols of successful development of which is the Makhtumkuli secondary school built in the village of Funtovo in the Volga region. Taking this opportunity, the head of the region expressed gratitude for sending a teacher of the Turkmen language to work at this educational institution.

Igor Babushkin also expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the decision to send humanitarian aid to the Astrakhan region in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. This gesture of goodwill, the head of the region stressed, was a manifestation of the traditions of good neighborliness and friendship.
