Today, on the day of knowledge and student youth, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inaugurated a sports center at the Turkmen state Institute of physical culture and sports.
The ceremony began with a performance by young artists. At the end of the musical and choreographic composition, the President of Turkmenistan warmly congratulated those present on the day of knowledge and student youth, as well as on the commissioning of a new complex of buildings in the sports sphere.
In his welcoming speech, the Turkmen leader noted that our independent state is carrying out large-scale work to educate an educated, physically healthy generation with a broad worldview, creating all conditions for young people to receive modern education, physical education and sports.
As a result of the ongoing educational reforms, secondary and higher educational institutions are being opened, new buildings are being built and put into operation. At present, the country is successfully implementing the policy of switching to twelve-year General secondary education and a digital education system, the head of state continued.
Schools are provided with highly qualified specialists. Computer equipment, new technologies, interactive multimedia, and digital educational methods are widely implemented in their work. This helps young people get an education that meets the requirements of the time, helps them grow up physically strong and worthy people.
We are carrying out large-scale work in the sports sphere, the President of Turkmenistan said, stressing that great efforts are being made to establish healthy life standards in society and bring physical education and sports in the country to the world level.
Today, the country is taking all measures to develop the Olympic movement, high-performance sports and international cooperation in this direction. This gives good results.
As a vivid example of the celebration of the country's sports policy, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cited the V Asian indoor and martial arts games held at a high level in Ashgabat in September 2017, as well as the international rally "Amul-Khazar" and the world weightlifting championship held in 2018.
"This has enriched our experience in organizing international competitions," Berdimuhamedov said.
Within the framework of the National program for support and development of sports and physical culture in 2011-2020 and the "Program of the President of Turkmenistan for socio-economic development of the country for 2019-2025", a lot of work is being done to increase the mass participation in physical education and sports.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that every year on the occasion of world health day and world Bicycle day, it has become a good tradition in our country to hold major physical culture and sports events to promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle, international forums and conferences.
In a short historical period in the towns and villages were built and put into operation a multi-sport school, objects, complexes, according to the international standards in the capital – Ashgabat built the Olympic village, which has no analogues in the region Golf club, a multipurpose sports complex in the National tourist zone "Avaza" and numerous other relevant facilities.
All of them create wide opportunities for the harmonious development of our citizens, full-fledged training of domestic athletes, so that, having successfully performed at prestigious international competitions, they will be awarded prizes and raise the Green banner of an independent neutral homeland high, the head of state stressed.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that the complex opening today at the sports University will allow preparing athletes at a high level for the Olympic and Asian games and other major international competitions.
The tasks aimed at the broad implementation of the principles of a healthy lifestyle, support for sports and education of our young people educated, physically strong, comprehensively perfect individuals are also set out in national legislation. The recent adoption by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the Law "on physical culture and sport" has further strengthened the country's legislative framework in this direction.
In the domestic and foreign policy implemented by our neutral state, in strengthening friendly and fraternal relations between the peoples of the world, a special place is occupied by sport, which is an Ambassador of peace, as well as sports diplomacy.
"Our country, supporting sustainable development programs, cooperates widely with the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia, the world health organization, the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization, as well as with international and regional associations for various sports. These relations, which are developing year by year, are increasing the international prestige of our country," the head of state said.
In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recalled the initiatives in the field of sports put forward by Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening universal peace, strengthening friendly relations between peoples, mutual understanding and respect.
These initiatives have been recognized and fully supported by the international community. This is clearly evidenced by the adoption of a special Resolution on the proposal of our state at the 82nd meeting of the 72nd session of The United Nations General Assembly on April 12, 2018, declaring June 3 as world Bicycle day.
According to the Turkmen leader, the sacred duty of the young generation, using the opportunities created by our state, is to get a modern education, love sports, follow the principles of a healthy lifestyle, and grow up worthy sons and daughters of the Motherland.
"We will always take care at the state level to ensure that our young people continue to receive fundamental education, combining their spiritual and physical potential, and successfully perform at international tournaments," the head of Turkmenistan stressed.
Wishing everyone good health, prosperity and success, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cut the symbolic ribbon and went inside the building to the applause of the ceremony participants.
The head of state noted that this sports center is not inferior to other sports palaces of the capital in its level, and the best building materials and advanced technologies were used in its construction.
"All this is done in order to raise the prestige of the national sport and attract even more people to its ranks," the President of Turkmenistan said.
Regular sports activities are health and immunity that protects people from any diseases, they are cheerfulness and energy in achieving their goals, the head of state noted, addressing the Minister with instructions to further develop the new sports complex as a center of attraction for many supporters of an active lifestyle, as well as to prepare for future international competitions.
"Many sports federations that unite dozens of countries Express their desire to hold Championships in our country, because our country has a high-quality specialized infrastructure. Participants and guests of the Ashgabat Asian games unanimously recognized that these Games were organized at the world and Olympic level, " Berdimuhamedov said.
"We are ready to host the largest competitions on the planet," the Turkmen leader said. – At the same time, our most important task remains to popularize sports as a mass hobby, as an integral condition for physical improvement of younger generations, as a factor in the formation of value orientations of young people," the head of state stressed.
At the sports complex, the President of Turkmenistan was welcomed by students and their mentors-coaches.
Speaking with Futsal athletes here, the head of state expressed confidence that they will make a worthy contribution to increasing the sports authority of the Motherland. As it was noted, this year the Asian Futsal championship was to be held in Turkmenistan. However, due to the difficult situation in the world related to coronavirus infection, the dates of many major international competitions and Championships, including the Olympic games, have been changed.
"Therefore, in coordination with the Asian Football Confederation, it was decided to postpone the Asian Futsal championship," Berdimuhamedov said.
Speaking about this, the head of state expressed confidence that by training in a modern sports complex, where all conditions are created, Turkmen athletes will be well prepared for major competitions and will successfully perform at upcoming international tournaments.
At the Institute of physical culture and sports, the head of state carefully observed the training of volleyball players, Futsal players, tennis players and basketball players as he got acquainted with the construction of a multifunctional sports complex and the opportunities created here for training professional athletes.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov himself demonstrated athletic skills by making a deft kick on a soccer ball and making a serve to volleyball players.
Following the course of the game, the head of Turkmenistan commented on certain tactics, applauded the skill of the athletes and assessed the overall coherence of the teams. At the same time, the Turkmen leader addressed instructions to the Minister of sports and youth policy to ensure conditions for the development of sports pedagogy and his own national school of mentoring in various disciplines.
The two-floor multi-disciplinary sports complex, which will become a base for training Turkmen Olympians and highly qualified coaching staff, houses halls for Billiards and chess, offices for teachers and massage rooms, a medical center and other facilities.
The training grounds located on the first floor of the building are designed for 100 people, and more than 50 students can study on the second floor at the same time.
After leaving the building of the sports complex, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inspected the surrounding area, where a five-story dormitory with 450 seats was built, a recreation area, Parking lots, Bicycle and running tracks were built. The head of state paid special attention to landscaping, giving recommendations on the choice of plantings, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
