A new container line will open on the Aktau-Turkmenbashi-Aktau sea route

The Aktau sea commercial port is currently working to attract new types of cargo. At this time, work has begun on creating a new regular container line along the route port of Turkmenbashi – port of Aktau – port of Turkmenbashi with a feeder ship plying at least once a week, inbusiness.kz reports with a link to information from the port of Aktau.

For the first half of 2020, container transshipment on the TRANS-Caspian international transport route (ITR) totaled 6,538 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent). This is a significant increase in comparison with cargo transshipment for the same period last year - 950 TEU, the source specifies.

The increase was due to a feeder service on the route Aktau-Alyat (Baku) –Aktau.

3 million 514 thousand 261 tons of dry and oil cargo were handled by the port of Aktau in 2019.
