Central Asian countries discussed anti-crisis measures to restore the economy in the face of a pandemic

Measures developed by Central Asian governments to support the national economy and restore the private sector in response to the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed during a regional Ministerial meeting of the Organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD).

The online session was attended by high-level representatives of government agencies of the seven countries participating in the OECD Central Asia Initiative, responsible for the development and implementation of anti – crisis measures, representatives of the private sector, international experts from the European Union, the OECD and other international organizations. The Turkmen delegation was represented by the Deputy Minister of Finance and economy.

During the podium discussion, the head of the Turkmen delegation discussed with the participants of the meeting the possibilities of cooperation in the implementation of the plan for ensuring preparedness and response of Turkmenistan to acute infectious disease, including the search for joint solutions and the development of anti-crisis measures.

During the videoconference, a survey was conducted on issues related to the coronavirus crisis, after which participants expressed their views on further actions to support small and medium-sized businesses, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
