President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed Deputy Prime Minister Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev, who oversees the agro-industrial complex in Turkmenistan, to increase the production of potatoes, onions and other vegetable products in the country. The relevant instructions were given during the workshop, which identified priority tasks in the agro-industrial complex.
As the head of state noted, in order to reduce the volume of imports, it is necessary to expand the acreage in the autumn of this year and additionally plant vegetable and fruit crops in the velayats.
Important is ensuring the country's seed potato production, said the President of Turkmenistan, and noted that there should be cultivation of vegetables peasant associations, private producers and household farms.
The head of state instructed to ensure the purchase of potatoes, onions and melons from producers in the velayats, as well as timely settlements with them, to continue the construction of cold storage facilities. It was noted that members of the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs should be actively involved in this work, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
