Turkmenistan has introduced restrictions on recreation in “Avaza” and swimming on the Caspian coast in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic

Taking into account the difficult epidemiological situation associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in accordance with scientific forecasts of the second stage of development of the coronavirus, Turkmenistan has restricted cultural events in the summer season in the national tourist zone "Avaza", as well as swimming in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea. This decision was made by the Emergency Commission to combat the spread of diseases. This was announced at a Government meeting today by the Minister of health and medical industry Nurmuhammet Amannepesov, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

"At the present time, when there is a tense situation around the world due to the spread of coronavirus infection, our duty is to preserve the health of citizens and ensure their well – being," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a Government meeting.

"In this regard, it is necessary to follow the recommendations of the Emergency Commission to combat the spread of diseases. Therefore, this year we should limit tourism, recreation and bathing of citizens in the Caspian Sea and “Avaza”," the head of state stressed.
