Humanitarian cargo from Turkmenistan has been delivered to Astrakhan

The ferry "Bagtyyar" arrived in the Astrakhan port of Olya with humanitarian cargo on the Caspian Sea from the port of Turkmenbashi, TASS reports.

The ship holds 49 trucks with a total capacity of 1.2 thousand tons. The cargo includes food, textiles and construction materials.

Recall that the humanitarian cargo was sent to Russia by Order of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Ministry of industry and construction, the Ministry of textile industry, the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection, the Ministry of trade and foreign economic relations, the state concerns "Turkmenhimiya" and "Turkmengaz", the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs, as well as the administrations of the Akhal, Lebap and Mary velayats participated in the formation of this cargo, which was handed over to the Russian side free of charge as a gesture of friendship and good-neighborliness.

The goods will be transferred to organizations that provide social support to citizens with coronavirus, and some of the cargo will be transferred to medical institutions.

On behalf of the Governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, the Minister of industry and natural resources of the region, Denis Afanasiev, addressed the Turkmen friends with words of gratitude.

"We are grateful to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the fraternal Turkmen people for their friendly attitude to the Astrakhan region. Sending humanitarian cargo is an invaluable support at such a difficult time when we in the Astrakhan region and in Russia as a whole are forced to fight the coronavirus. This act of goodwill shows the desire of our friends in the Caspian Sea to help us in difficult times," Denis Afanasiev said.
