President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov offered Uzbekistan assistance in eliminating the consequences of the disaster that the neighboring country experienced as a result of heavy rain and stormy winds. The head of Turkmenistan made this proposal to his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a telephone conversation held the day before.

"Expressing words of deep empathy to the people of Uzbekistan in connection with the recent natural disaster that caused significant destruction in a number of cities and towns of the neighboring country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to provide the affected areas with the necessary assistance, send equipment, personnel, and provide all possible assistance in restoring infrastructure," the state news Agency of Turkmenistan said.

The official information of the Turkmen side emphasizes that the relevant agencies are ready to immediately contact their Uzbek counterparts, establish operational channels of interaction and determine work schemes for rapid elimination of the consequences of a natural disaster.

According to media reports, Uzbekistan experienced two natural disasters last week. On April 28, as a result of the hurricane, social facilities, residential buildings, and transport were damaged in the Bukhara, Navoi, Samarkand, and Kashkaderya regions. And on May 1, due to heavy rain and stormy wind, one of the dams of the Sardobin reservoir in the Syrderya region broke, resulting in flooding of several settlements, damage to roads and agricultural land.
