Turkmenistan continues to fully implement its planned immunization program and Finance it at the expense of the state, the official statement of the UN says in celebration of European immunization week 2020.
Preventive vaccinations are carried out within the framework of the National calendar, which provides for mandatory vaccination against 14 diseases.
Quality vaccines purchased through UNICEF and pre-qualified by who are provided to all children free of charge in accordance with the national immunization schedule. Through the efforts of the Ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan, the country has achieved universal vaccination of the population.
In addition, vaccinations are carried out for epidemic indications to certain professional groups and individuals traveling to countries that are not well-off due to particularly dangerous infections.
"We know that vulnerability to infectious diseases anywhere is a threat to public health worldwide," said Ms. Afshan Khan, UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia. – It is essential that routine immunization programs continue to operate during this crisis, while ensuring adequate protection for both health workers and those who are being vaccinated. Priority should be given to reaching the most vulnerable children who have missed routine immunizations in the past."
The Ministry of health and medical industry of Turkmenistan actively cooperates with international organizations to prevent the entry of coronavirus into the country. No cases of infection have been registered in the country.
