Coronavirus – how to respond to the pandemic

On March 11, 2020, the world health organization declared the virus, called COVID-19, a pandemic, and therefore it is very important to increase attention to this problem.

In this regard, the situation in Turkmenistan has been brought under control. To eliminate the risk of the virus entering the country, a number of measures have been taken to strengthen security. So, at the end of January, in connection with the outbreak of the virus in China, "Turkmen airlines" canceled flights to Beijing and Bangkok for the safety of passengers. According to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, already at that time, in order to protect the country's territory from the import and spread of the disease in the border areas, control was strengthened in sanitary and quarantine points and regional sanitary and epidemiological services.

On March 13, when who declared Europe the center of the pandemic, flights to Istanbul, Dubai and European cities were canceled.

Prior to the decision to cancel flights, all passengers staying in Turkmenistan were required to undergo quarantine.

"Turkmenistan has put a reliable barrier to dangerous infectious diseases," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said on January 30 at a working meeting with the participation of Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, hyakims of velayats and the capital, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, relevant ministries and departments, as well as members of the Emergency Commission to combat the spread of diseases.

People, looking at the situation in the world, begin to worry that due to the closure of borders, the supply of food and industrial necessities will stop, they try to stock up for the future, artificially creating a situation of scarcity. Some individuals deliberately inflate this situation by using the coronavirus problem as a tool to achieve their own goals.

We can't afford to panic about this. Turkmenistan has been implementing an import substitution program for several years. domestic entrepreneurs and companies produce a sufficient number of products and medicines in a wide range. The success of domestic small and medium-sized businesses was recently demonstrated by the exhibition of achievements of members of the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

The country has taken all measures to provide the necessary medicines and medical supplies. Turkmenistan has accepted from “Federal service for supervision of consumer protection and human welfare” test systems for diagnostics COVID-19, developed at the enterprise "Vector".

In the media, medical professionals strongly recommend that citizens of Turkmenistan take preventive measures to avoid infectious diseases and not succumb to the General panic that has engulfed many countries of the world as COVID – 19 has spread. You can prevent infection by strictly following simple rules, namely: 

  • not to visit places with large concentrations of people;
  • follow the rules of personal hygiene: wash your hands thoroughly with soap, use hand antiseptics;
  • in public places, do not touch the face or eyes with dirty hands;
  • ventilate the premises;
  • to eliminate handshake.

Due to the closure of the borders of States abroad, many people have relatives and relatives. In this case, it is also recommended to warn them about their own safety measures, personal hygiene, and avoiding mass crowds.

Thanks to the timely measures taken, no cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Turkmenistan to date, the newspaper reports Ashgabat.in.

Recall that the COVID – 19 viruses was first detected in December last year in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province of Central China. As early as December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed who of an outbreak of unknown pneumonia.

According to who data on March 21, the number of infections: 272,068, the number of deaths 11,302, the number of recoveries: 90,618.
