Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have started working more intensively to preserve the Caspian Sea's biodiversity, Emin Garabagly, head of the international cooperation Department of the Ministry of ecology and natural resources of Azerbaijan, told Trend news Agency today.

He recalled that during the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan, a Protocol was signed between the Ministry of agriculture and environmental protection of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan on cooperation in the field of protection and study of the biological diversity of the Caspian Sea.

According to Emin Garabagly, joint scientific conferences and seminars are planned to be held within the Protocol to exchange experience and information on the protection of the Caspian Sea biodiversity. The countries also plan to carry out joint activities to study the impact of climate change on the Caspian ecosystem.
