The reconstruction of the Botanical Garden is nearing completion in Ashgabat, the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports.

Ashgabat Botanical Garden is the country's oldest scientific platform, where acclimatization and introduction of useful plants has been ongoing for over 90 years. Since August 2019, the Botanical Garden has been part of the structure of the Turkmen Agricultural University, and from that moment a major reconstruction began on its territory.

During the reconstruction, planting was converted, bosquets were cleared, paths were concreted, a pool for aquatic plants and new gates were built, an inventory of the existing flora collection was carried out, infrastructure was improved, the fence was updated.

Now, future agronomists, landscapers, ecologists, students of the Turkmen Agricultural University, who consolidate the knowledge gained in practice, are sent here for training and practical classes. After the work on updating the Botanical Garden is completed, the sight will become available for public visits.

The Botanical Garden was founded in 1892 when the Ashgabat Specialized Botanical Station was organized on this site. Then, on the base of the station, the Garden School was formed, which laid the foundation for the future garden. The status of the botanical garden was obtained in 1929, and since 1951 it has been included in the Academy of Sciences of the republic. Plants from all over the world grow on the terraces and greenhouses of the botanical garden.
