27-year-old Turkmen weightlifter Rejepbay Rejepov won the third place at the IWF world Cup, which started today in Tianjin (China). Our compatriot achieved this success in the weight category up to 81 kg, in which 9 athletes fought for medals.
In the sum of the double event R. Rejepov gained 337 kg (jerk-156 kg, push-181 kg). This is 26 kg less than at the 2019 world Championships three months ago in Pattaya (Thailand), where Rejepbay took 4th place. Five-time world champion and London 2012 Olympic champion Lu Xiaojun of China finished second. On the first is his compatriot, two – time world champion and 2019 Asian champion – Li Dain.
The Turkmen team at this tournament, which is qualifying for the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo, is represented by two women and four men. The competition will end on December 12.
