Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan R. Meredov spoke at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
According to the information, R. Meredov outlined the priority positions of Turkmenistan on topical issues of the regional and global agenda. In particular, our country considers international law and the UN Charter as the basis of the modern world order and a condition for achieving a high level of trust between States. In this regard, Turkmenistan has taken the initiative to adopt a resolution declaring 2021 the International year of peace and confidence. This idea was first voiced in the speech Of the President of Turkmenistan at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. The relevant resolution was unanimously adopted on September 12 this year by the General Assembly with the co-sponsorship of 73 UN member States.
According to the source, cooperation with the UN on sustainable development remains a priority for all its participants in the long term.
