Today FC  Altyn Asyr returned to top spot in Group D with a deserved 3-1 win over FC Dordoi of Kyrgyzstan at Kopetdag Stadium, the AFC site reports.

The 2018 AFC Cup runners-up took the lead through a stunning Altymyrat Annadurdyyev volley before an own goal from FC Dordoi’s Azamat Baimatov and a late strike from Murat Yakshiyev sealed three valuable points.

FC Khujand earned a victory in their AFC Cup clash with FC Istiklol, winning 3-2 to ensure Group D will be decided on the final day of competition next Wednesday. But while the three points gained by Khujand put them level with Istiklol on the Group D table, FC Altyn Asyr’s later victory over FC Dordoi  means FC Khujand are now unable to top the group due to their inferior head-to-head records against both Istiklol and FC Altyn Asyr.

Another win against Tajik champions FC Istiklol next Wednesday will confirm Altyn Asyr’s place in the knockout stage, while FC Dordoi can no longer progress from the group stage.
