Turkish Airlines, the national carrier of Turkey, will begin operating scheduled flights between Istanbul and Timișoara, Romania, on April 1, 2026. The new route will be scheduled with seven flights per week.
According to the published schedule, the flights will be operated in two pairs. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the aircraft will depart Istanbul (Atatürk Airport, IST) at 07:40 and arrive in Timișoara (TSR) at 09:25. The return flight will depart at 10:15, arriving in Istanbul at 12:10. On Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, an evening flight will depart Istanbul at 19:10, arriving at 20:55; the return flight will depart at 21:45, landing in Istanbul at 23:35.
Timișoara is Romania's third-largest city and one of the country's cultural centers, having been named European Capital of Culture in 2023. The opening of the route will expand the region's connectivity with Türkiye’s largest air hub and provide passengers with connections to Turkish Airlines' extensive network.
Turkish Airlines, a Star Alliance member, was founded in 1933 with a modest fleet of five aircraft. Today, its fleet comprises 519 aircraft (passenger and cargo) and flies to 356 destinations in 132 countries, including 303 international and 53 domestic.
