Apple is preparing an updated Siri with a chatbot interface and a separate app

According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to radically redesign its Siri voice assistant. According to sources cited by columnist Mark Gurman, the company intends to transform Siri into a "systemic AI agent with deep integration across all apps." The updated assistant could be unveiled at the annual WWDC developer conference in June 2026.

Within the framework of the update, Apple is developing a standalone app for Siri on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with a chatbot-style interface. Users will be able to interact with the assistant using both voice and text. The app will reportedly support web search and store a history of all user interactions.

Other announced innovations include an Ask Siri button for sending content highlighted in apps into a conversation with the assistant, as well as a Write with Siri feature that will offer AI-generated suggestions as you type.

According to sources, the new features will be primarily based on models developed in partnership with Google. However, most of these features are not expected to be completed before the fall of 2026. Previously, the release of a version of Siri based on the Gemini model was scheduled for spring 2026.

Apple first announced AI capabilities for Siri in 2024, but the project's implementation has been repeatedly delayed since then.
