Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to the CIS participated in an event at the Khatyn Memorial Complex

Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the CIS, Chairman of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member States Nazarguly Shagulyev took part in the "Come and Bow" event, which took place on March 22 at the Khatyn Memorial Complex.

During the event, government officials, labor collectives, and public and youth organizations honored the memory of the victims of fascist aggression, according to the CIS Executive Committee website.

The first to lay a wreath at the Eternal Flame was a wreath from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The memorial service was attended by First Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Igor Petrishenko and members of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth.

The village of Khatyn can no longer be found on maps of Belarus. In 1943, the Nazis burned it down along with its 149 inhabitants, 75 of whom were children.

The Khatyn Memorial Complex was built on the site of the village in memory of the victims. It was opened in 1969.
