All border crossing points in Turkmenistan are equipped with express laboratories for the initial inspection of quarantined goods, and key checkpoints with high cargo volumes are equipped with fumigation chambers. This was announced by Toyli Kakajanov, head of the External Quarantine Department of the State Plant Quarantine Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, speaking at the international forum "Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan" (IFT 2026).
"All work by Turkmenistan's phytosanitary service is based on international norms and regulations in the area of plant quarantine," he emphasized.
According to Kakadzhanov, the import of quarantined products into the country is permitted only through border checkpoints with specialized plant quarantine stations. This inspection is carried out in two stages: primary inspection directly at the border, and secondary inspection at the cargo's destination.
The agency's representative also reported that the State Plant Quarantine Service's central laboratory is equipped with a PCR system, enabling the timely detection of viral and bacterial diseases in plants and plant products. Contaminated goods are disinfected using the chemical agent "Phostoxin."
The legal basis for phytosanitary control is the Law of Turkmenistan "On Plant Quarantine," he noted.
The IFT-2026 forum is timed to coincide with the 18th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. According to the organizers, over 500 delegates from 25 countries are participating in the event.
