On March 18, 2026, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering held the 5th Open International Internet Olympiad in "Strength of Materials" online for students from higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and abroad.

The Olympiad opened with a welcoming address by the institute's Acting Rector, M. Babayev.

A total of 877 students from the United States, Australia, the Federal Republic of Germany, Romania, Malaysia, the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, the Republic of Uganda, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as well as specialized higher education institutions of Turkmenistan took part in the competition.

The Olympiad consisted of a single round: participants were asked to solve six problems in the discipline, each with 120 minutes to complete. Professors from relevant foreign universities served as judges.

The organizers noted that holding such international competitions fosters cooperation in education, promotes the exchange of experience, and identifies talented students capable of scientific inquiry and independent problem-solving.
