The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has annulled Senegal's victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. Senegal was awarded a 3-0 technical defeat, and Morocco was declared the tournament winner. CAF upheld the Moroccan side's appeal of the final result, according to Sport24.
The match, which took place on January 19, ended with a narrow victory for the Senegalese. Shortly before the end of regulation time, Senegal coach Pape Thiao led his team off the field in protest at the penalty awarded against them. The players later returned, defended the draw—Brahim Diaz missed the penalty—and in extra time, Senegal scored the winning goal and lifted the trophy.
Two months later, the Confederation's Appeals Committee awarded Senegal a technical defeat, declaring Morocco the tournament winner. Senegal was found to have violated CAN regulations by leaving the field.
