Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova met with the new Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Pieter van Rooy, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Congratulating Pieter van Rooy on his appointment, the Turkmen side expressed confidence that his professional experience will contribute to further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ILO.

During the conversation, the parties discussed expanding the institutional presence of UN agencies in Turkmenistan, as well as implementing joint projects aimed at promoting decent work principles and developing social dialogue.

In the context of Turkmenistan's participation in ILO activities, it was noted that the country regularly submits reports on the organization's conventions and participates in the work of the International Labour Conference, the next session of which will be held in June of this year in Geneva.

Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening their partnership, the source noted.
