The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited eight young diplomats from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to participate in an introductory program on "Social Media Usage and Ethics for Diplomats" from February 15 to 22.
During their visit, the young diplomats met with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Public Affairs Agency of the Japanese Government. Participants in the introductory program received information about communications and initiatives of Japanese government agencies.
At Sofia University, they attended a lecture on public relations theory and participated in lively discussions. During a visit to the Georgian Embassy in Japan, the ambassador shared his experience and approaches to using social media.
The program participants visited the Diet building, the Imperial Palace, the National Museum of Territory and Sovereignty, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and learned more about Japanese politics and history.
The diplomats also went on a familiarization tour of the country, visiting Osaka and Kyoto, according to the website of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan.
