Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) plans to introduce Turkmen language instruction as part of its core educational programs. This was announced by the CIS Executive Committee following a meeting between the university's rector and representatives of the Turkmen Embassy in Russia.
MSLU Rector Irina Kraeva held talks with Serdar Durdyev, Counselor of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation. The parties discussed cooperation within the university's work as the Basic Organization for Languages and Cultures of the CIS Member States.
The meeting discussed the opening of a Turkmen Language and Culture Center at MSLU during Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth, as well as prospects for joint educational and cultural projects. Currently, 40 foreign languages are taught at the university.
The talks were attended by Georgy Grachev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at MSLU; Vyacheslav Konev, Director of the Directorate of the Basic Organization; Dmitry Belyakov, Director of the Institute of International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences; Zhenishkul Khulkhachieva, Head of the Department of Languagesand Cultures of the CIS and Near Abroad Countries; Gulalek Chopanova, Press Attaché of the Embassy of Turkmenistan; and Svetlana Malinina, Head of the Press Service of the CIS Executive Committee.
