Turkmenistan's athletes won 23 medals at international competitions in January and February of this year. Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Mammedov reported this at a government meeting, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

According to the report, during the reporting period, schoolchildren and students participated in international subject and online Olympiads, winning various awards. Meetings, conferences, and seminars with leading foreign universities and diplomatic missions were held remotely. In the field of science, admission quotas for postgraduate studies, clinical residencies, and academic degrees were approved for 2026. Advanced treatment methods were introduced in the country's medical institutions, and children underwent surgeries and received treatment with funding from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation. A high-level international seminar on global health diplomacy was held.

In summing up the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of improving the quality of teaching and strengthening the educational infrastructure. He also called for a focus on the effectiveness of scientific research, the development of sports, and the improvement of the healthcare system.
