The Iraqi diplomatic mission has opened in Ashgabat, according to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdyev met on Monday with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Ashgabat, Jassim Mohammed Al-Attar.
Muhammetdurdyev expressed gratitude to the Iraqi side for its decision to open an Iraqi embassy in Ashgabat, the statement noted.
The opening of an Iraqi diplomatic mission in Ashgabat will further strengthen bilateral relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, the Foreign Ministry noted.
The parties also discussed opportunities to expand trade and economic ties, including establishing partnerships between the two countries' business communities. The prospects for developing cultural and humanitarian ties, including in science, education, sports, and tourism, were also highlighted.
