In Uzbekistan, traffic cameras will begin automatically identifying drivers who have lost their licenses

Uzbekistan is introducing a new road enforcement mechanism: photo and video cameras will automatically identify drivers who have been disqualified from driving, according to kun.uz, citing the country's Road Safety Service.

According to the agency, the traffic cameras are equipped with facial recognition technology, which identifies drivers and records violations in real time by those whose driver's licenses have been revoked.

According to the agency, the implementation of such technologies is aimed at increasing compliance with traffic rules, preventing violations, and enhancing overall road safety.

Current Uzbek legislation stipulates a fine of 50 times the base rate for driving while license suspended, which amounts to approximately 20.6 million soums. Repeat offenders face up to three years in prison.
