Representatives of the Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and Narine Saakyan, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan, discussed cooperation opportunities to modernize the Turkmenbashy International Seaport as a key link in the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.

Specifically, the parties discussed cooperation in facilitating trade operations and implementing modern digital systems. According to the Concept Note presented by UNDP, particular attention was paid to improving the existing Terminal Management System (TOS) and implementing the Maritime Single Window (MSW), as reported on the website tmrl.gov.tm.

The importance of the port's existing ISO-14001 and Ecoport certificates was also noted, and new proposals were put forward to further enhance international environmental standards.

Agency representatives stated that these initiatives and projects will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for consideration.
