Russian Railways has put the Rizhsky railway station building in Moscow up for sale for 4 billion rubles

Russian Railways has announced the sale of the Rizhsky Station complex in Moscow. The starting price at the auction is 4 billion rubles. The sale received government approval in February 2026, according to vc.ru.

A 13 693-square-meter land plot with two buildings is up for auction: the historic station building, measuring 3925,5 square meters, and a two-story building measuring 3786,4 square meters.

Russian Railways explained that the station has not been used for its intended purpose for a long time, which, according to the company, opens up opportunities for repurposing the buildings.

The Rizhsky Railway Station is a cultural heritage site. It was built between 1899 and 1901 according to the designs of architect Stanislav Brzhozovsky in the "Russian style" with elements of XVII-century architecture. The building is located in northern Moscow, near the Rizhskaya metro station.

Delovoy Peterburg previously reported that Rizhsky Station was being considered as a potential transfer hub for the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed rail line. Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that a new 11,400-square-meter station would be built for the high-speed rail line near Rizhskaya Station.
