The Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with China's Xinhua News Agency, published a report on the state of the global governance system and China's role in transforming it. The document was released on February 24 in Beijing.
According to the report's authors, the world has entered an era of turbulence and massive transformation: the international balance of power is undergoing a profound restructuring, with unilateralism, protectionism, and hegemonism on the rise. Against this backdrop, the document notes, the need to ensure peace, development, and security continues to grow.
According to the authors, existing global governance mechanisms face challenges in terms of authority, representativeness, and effectiveness. The international economic and trade order is under serious pressure, while the global economy lacks momentum for growth. At the same time, competition among major powers is intensifying, and development imbalances are deepening.
The new wave of scientific and technological revolution, the report states, creates additional growth opportunities, but also generates new governance risks. Therefore, the authors identify reforming the global governance system as a top priority for the international community.
The report is titled "Upholding International Justice and Coping with Global Turbulence: China's Solution to Global Governance."
