Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has become a co-owner of the Spanish football club “Almería”, purchasing a quarter of the team's shares, according to the Associated Press.
According to the Brunswick Group, a consulting firm representing the athlete, the deal was completed through its subsidiary CR7 Sports Investments. Saudi investor Mohamed al-Khureigi remains the majority owner of “Almería”.
“Almería” currently plays in Segunda División, the second-highest tier of Spanish football, and is third in the league table. The club last played in La Liga in the 2023/24 season.
41-year-old Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, has been playing for Saudi Arabian club “Al-Nassr” since the end of 2022.
