Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and UK Foreign Secretary Hamish Falconer signed a cooperation program between the two countries' foreign ministries for 2026-2027.

According to the press service of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the document was signed following the third round of the "Structural Dialogue" between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

During the dialogue, the parties noted the positive dynamics of political contacts and trade and economic ties, emphasizing the need to more fully utilize existing economic potential, including within the framework of the Turkmen-British Trade and Industrial Council.

In the field of education and culture, the high demand for English language learning in Turkmenistan was noted, and interest was expressed in expanding cooperation with British relevant structures.

Regional issues featured prominently on the agenda. Meredov emphasized the importance of stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan, noting Ashgabat's implementation of major infrastructure projects in support of the Afghan people. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation on regional security issues.

The Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, the country's neutral status, and the need to resolve international disputes through political and diplomatic means.

Rashid Meredov arrived in the UK on a working visit. As previously reported, the first CA5+1 talks between the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the UK will take place in London on February 26.
