The value of economic projects implemented in Turkmenistan with the participation of American companies is approaching $45 billion, according to National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in an interview with Al Arabiya TV.
"Over the course of many years, hundreds of economic projects have been implemented in Turkmenistan with the participation of American companies, and are currently in the implementation stage, with a total value approaching 45 billion USD," he said.
According to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, cooperation with the United States "is developing consistently, building on a mutually beneficial and equitable basis." He noted that major American companies—John Deere, General Electric, Case, Boeing, Coca-Cola, Sikorsky, and Caterpillar—have long and successfully operated in the Turkmen market, spanning the fuel and energy sector, transportation, electric power, software, agriculture, and the food industry.
The National Leader particularly highlighted the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council, established in 2008 at Ashgabat's initiative. He assessed the council as a "significant and effective instrument of bilateral partnership," whose recommendations are followed by government agencies in both countries.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also pointed to prospects for expanding cooperation, primarily in the area of diversifying the Turkmen economy, introducing high-tech production, and implementing major national and international infrastructure projects.
"We see enormous potential in attracting American investment and technology to develop innovative and knowledge-intensive industries in Turkmenistan," he emphasized.
